About the base

The role of Joint Operations Command (JOC) is to plan, control and conduct operations, activities and actions as directed to meet Australia’s Strategic Objectives. JOC is the critical node in applying Defence capability at the operational level and conducts operations and exercises to meet government aims, deepen Australia’s alliances and partnerships, and prepare the Joint Force for future contingencies.

RAAF Williamtown

About the base

The Air Force's main fighter pilot training base and home to numerous squadrons of training, surveillance and fighter aircraft.

Access

Visitors must report at Pass Office outside the South Gate access control point on Medowie Road to collect visitor identification card or receive swipe access to gain entry. Defence Common Access Card holders visiting from another base can email the Pass Office to activate swipe entry before visiting.

RAAF Richmond

About the base

Home to various intelligence and communication units, as well as our C-130J Hercules medium transport aircraft.

Access

Access is facilitated by presenting and tapping your card at the electronic access card readers located at the access control points. All persons must tap upon entry including those in vehicles.

RAAF Pearce

About the base

RAAF Base Pearce is named in honour of Sir George Foster Pearce KCVO (1870-1952) who was the serving Minister for Defence in 1934. The base supports advanced flying training for Air Force and Navy pilots. Located adjacent to the town of Bullsbrook.

Access

Airside access to authorised person only - Airside boundaries are indicated by red boundary line. Site specific Airside Awareness Training is required prior to access.

Animals are not permitted. Exception: Military working dogs and assistance animals.

RAAF Glenbrook

About

Home to the headquarters of Air Command, providing an HQ function for major Air Force units and personnel.

Access

Access to Helipad requires additional authorisation and induction.

Any person booking a Taxi/Uber/Hire Car is required to meet the driver at the front gate carpark.

Road rules

Speed limit is 25km/h unless otherwise signposted and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed parties of military members.

Victoria Barracks Brisbane

About the base

Victoria Barracks is a heritage significant site. It currently accommodates various office based functions from the three services, as well as the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group and the Vice Chief of Defence Force.

Road rules

Speed limit is 10km/h throughout the base unless otherwise signposted.

Timor Barracks

About the base

Is used as a headquarters of the 8th Brigade and Air Force cadets.

Access

Taxis and ride share service are not permitted. Delivery drivers will not be granted access to the base unless the recipient is available to accept delivery in person.

8am – 4pm

Monday – Friday

Road rules

On parade nights during school terms and on selected weekends all other vehicles are to be removed from the car park opposite building eight.

Simpson Barracks

About the base

Predominately a Forces Command training base supporting Defence Force School of Signals (tri-service technicians and operators of information, communication, and electronic warfare systems), Defence Force School of Music (tri-service musicians) and Army Education Centre. In addition, Headquarters 4th Brigade (Victoria's reserve Brigade) and Headquarters Australian Army Cadets Victoria operate from the site.

Russell Office

About the base

The administrative headquarters of the Australian Defence Force and home of Air Force Headquarters.

Access

All visitors: you are required to report to the security desk in the foyer of the building you are visiting, and your host must be present for you to be issued with a pass.

RAAF Wagga

About the base

All enlisted into the RAAF complete Recruit Training at the 1st Recruit Training Unit. RAAF Base Wagga is also a major centre for technical and non-technical, initial employment training and postgraduate training.

Access

Bringing animals on to the base requires prior approval from the Base Manager.

Unauthorised vehicles are not to be driven or parked on restricted or airside areas.

Any photo taking is to be pre-approved with an exemption granted for March Out parades.
