Located at Nowra in the South Coast region of New South Wales, HMAS Albatross is the main naval air station for the Royal Australian Navy's aviation branch, the Fleet Air Arm. Jervis Bay Airfield transferred is also a satellite military aerodrome of HMAS Albatross.

Both air fields are regularly used by military aircraft.

Noise mitigation

The following noise management strategies have been implemented at HMAS Albatross to minimise the impact of aircraft noise on local communities.

  • Implement fly neighbourly policies for HMAS Albatross and Jervis Bay Airfields.
  • Comply with noise abatement procedures.
  • Maintain a database of noise sensitive areas.
  • Continue proactive community engagement and maintain effective community consultation.
  • Ensure communities are advised of non-routine flying activities.
  • Issue orders and instructions that support effective noise management throughout the RAN Fleet Air Arm.

Flying schedule

These operational hours are standard throughout the week; Monday – Friday between 9 am and 1 am to conduct essential military training. These training times may vary and the below table will be updated if flying is projected to be completed outside of these hours.

Military flying will be conducted on Sunday 26 January 2025 to support Australia Day.
