Stage two of the Garden Island Recovery Program

Overview

Garden Island is located between Woolloomooloo Bay and Elizabeth Bay, approximately 2 kilometres north-east of Sydney’s central business district.

The works under Stage Two of the Garden Island (East) Critical Infrastructure Recovery Program are located on Defence-owned land and land leased from the NSW Government.

The project aims to improve the condition of engineering services and wharf structures across the Garden Island Defence Precinct. This involves upgrade works to West Dock Wharf, East Dock Wharf and Fleet Base East, including:

  • electrical 
  • fuel 
  • sewer 
  • potable water 
  • compressed air services
  • remediation works.

Additionally, the project involves a portion of offsite works to upgrade the base electrical supply and sewer rising main connection.

Community information

Defence consulted with local residents, statutory authorities and other interested stakeholders as part of obtaining Parliamentary expediency for the works to proceed under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1969.

Project details

The project's standard working hours are Monday to Friday - 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Removal of existing dilapidated pipework.

  • offsite sewer rising main
