Headquarters Joint Operations Command

About the base

The role of Joint Operations Command (JOC) is to plan, control and conduct operations, activities and actions as directed to meet Australia’s Strategic Objectives. JOC is the critical node in applying Defence capability at the operational level and conducts operations and exercises to meet government aims, deepen Australia’s alliances and partnerships, and prepare the Joint Force for future contingencies.

Victoria Barracks Sydney

About the base

The regency-style Victoria Barracks is one of the best displays of military architecture and was designed by Lieutenant-Colonel George Barney, who also built Fort Denison. It is a significant heritage site and home to the Headquarters of Forces Command.

Access

Moore Park Road is the vehicle access point and also the Victoria Barracks Sydney Pass Office / Visitor Reception Centre.

Singleton Military Area

About the base

This is where all infantry soldiers complete their initial employment training.

Access

The Town Gate is off Army Camp Road, Whittingham. The gate is only accessible during visiting hours.

Arriving via taxi or ride share. Only taxi driver with a valid Defence Common Access Card (DCAC) from Taxico are permitted on base.

Passengers not using this service are to disembark at the bus shelter at access control point.

On base pickup and drop of points are Officer and Sergeant car park, Health Centre and Currey Club.

Randwick Barracks

About the base

Provides administrative support and supply services to units of the Australian Defence Force, mostly Army. Also home to the headquarters of 2nd Division and Reserve units.

Access

No domestic pets permitted.

7 am - 4 pm

Monday – Friday

Road rules

Speed limit is 25km/h throughout the base unless otherwise signposted, car park 10km/h and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed military members.

RAAF Williamtown

About the base

The Air Force's main fighter pilot training base and home to numerous squadrons of training, surveillance and fighter aircraft.

Access

Visitors must report at Pass Office outside the South Gate access control point on Medowie Road to collect visitor identification card or receive swipe access to gain entry. Defence Common Access Card holders visiting from another base can email the Pass Office to activate swipe entry before visiting.

RAAF Richmond

About the base

Home to various intelligence and communication units, as well as our C-130J Hercules medium transport aircraft.

Access

Access is facilitated by presenting and tapping your card at the electronic access card readers located at the access control points. All persons must tap upon entry including those in vehicles.

RAAF Glenbrook

About

Home to the headquarters of Air Command, providing an HQ function for major Air Force units and personnel.

Access

Access to Helipad requires additional authorisation and induction.

Any person booking a Taxi/Uber/Hire Car is required to meet the driver at the front gate carpark.

Holsworthy Barracks

About the base

Holsworthy Barracks has one of the Army's major footprints within NSW and is home to a number of Army and tri-service training institutions as well as various Regular and Reserve Army Units. Holsworthy Barracks is also the staging location for domestic operations in NSW and covers almost 20,000 hectares.

HMAS Watson

About the base

Prepare Officers and Sailors of the Royal Australian Navy to go to sea and to be a part of the team that contributes to Fleet commitments and outcomes - "to fight and win at sea". The Base is Navy's premier maritime warfare training establishment for all ranks from Junior Sailors to Commanding Officers.

Access

Only vehicles that have a pass, Defence vehicles, or resident's vehicles are allowed through the main gate. Exceptions are delivery vehicles or contractors carrying out work, this is managed at the access control barrier.

HMAS Waterhen

About the base

The Navy's lead establishment for mine warfare, and home to Australia's Mine Countermeasures Force, Clearance Diving Team One and a fleet of minehunter vessels.

Access

Access through the gangway on Waterhen Drive. Out of hours contractor work is to be cleared.

7 am – 4 pm Monday – Thursday

7 am – 1 pm Friday
