The Multi Role Helicopter Rapid Replacement Project will acquire 40 UH-60M Black Hawks as a proven and mature utility helicopter to replace Army’s current fleet of MRH90 Taipans.
The UH-60M Black Hawks and supporting services and equipment are being acquired via the United States Government Foreign Military Sales program. The first three UH-60M Black Hawks were delivered to Australia and began flying operations in 2023. A further nine aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2024, seeing a total of 12 aircraft in Australia by the end of 2024. The remaining Black Hawks will continue to arrive in Australia according to a schedule of deliveries between 2025 and 2029.
In February 2024, Government announced the signing of a five-year Integrated Support Contract with Lockheed Martin Australia. The contract will provide through-life sustainment support to the UH-60M fleet including maintenance, training, supply and engineering support services.
