Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Replacement

LAND 4503 Phase 1 Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Replacement will acquire 29 AH-64E Apache helicopters to replace the ARH Tiger.

The aircraft and supporting systems are being acquired through Foreign Military Sales arrangements with the United States Government. This includes:

  • ground support equipment
  • communications and sensor systems
  • information and communications technology
  • training systems
  • weapons and ammunition
  • support services
  • supply parts and spares.

The AH-64E Apache is a proven, mature, and off-the-shelf capability. This aircraft is the contemporary configuration of the Apache featuring a network-centric, fully-integrated weapon system specifically built to dominate in highly contested and complex battle spaces. The AH-64E Apache provides a crewed-uncrewed teaming capability, enabling networked integration with Australian Defence Force and Coalition uncrewed aerial systems.

In February 2024, Government announced the signing of a seven-year Initial Support Contract with Boeing Defence Australia. The contract will provide maintenance, engineering, and logistics support, as well as aircrew and technician training for the Apache fleet and associated workforce.

The first AH-64E Apache is on track for delivery in 2025.
