Defence Fuels Transformation Program

Overview

The Defence Fuels Transformation Program (DFTP) aims achieve the following.

  • Increase resilience across the Defence fuel network (DFN).
  • Create industry connections and implement new initiatives to improve services and reduce the cost of ownership across the DFN.
  • Deliver a guaranteed supply of fuels allowing for increased activity while keeping to industry standard.

Defence is proposing to progress works associated with the DFTP Tranche 2 Facilities project. It is proposed that the facilities and infrastructure associated with the project will be delivered at 11 sites across Australia.

The project will provide new or remediated Defence Fuel Installations to support Marine, Ground and Aviation activities within Defence.

These works are subject to Parliamentary approval and the project has been referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works (PWC). The function of the PWC is to openly inquire into the purpose, need, cost-effectiveness, revenue and value of proposed Commonwealth projects.

Community information

Defence recognises the importance of providing statutory authorities and stakeholders with an opportunity to provide input or raise concerns relating to the project. Community consultation sessions have been held for all sites through either virtual or in person drop-in sessions. Details of these community consultations can be found below.
