Brisbane’s city streets have transformed into a racetrack with close to 8,000 people taking part in Run Army.
Now in its fifth year, the event continues to grow, with a record number of people coming together to run with a purpose.
Run Army President, Major General (Ret’d) Jake Ellwood said despite some rain, participants and supporters were unfazed and turned up in droves, making this iteration of the event the most successful yet.
“We are delighted with Run Army this year in Brisbane. The race has scaled up with Army being supported by RSL Queensland and other generous partners,” Major General Ellwood said.
“Run Army is designed to be a fun event, but it is also a run with purpose - to support those that support the community in their time of need.
“This year we saw the close involvement of the state’s first responders and community organisations such as Queensland Police Service, Fire Department, Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service and Surf Life Saving. All have been involved and have raised much-needed funds to support charities including Legacy, which have been there for Defence families since 1923.
“Brisbane is the largest Run Army event in the national calendar and is set to grow in 2026, and well into the future.
“Run Army is another connection with the community we serve, where we are able to bring the public in to be part of our passion for health, fitness, and wellbeing as well service to the nation.”
Run Army is on the move, with Townsville up next on Sunday 6 April 2025. Entrants will have the choice of a 5K or 10K run through the historic landmarks and sights of Townsville.
