The conclusion of the Coronial Inquest into Corporal Ian Turner’s death is a significant and important step for his loved ones and friends. His loss is still deeply felt across the Army community.
I thank everyone who has been involved in this process, particularly Corporal Ian Turner’s family and those who served with him. I recognise the impact this Inquest has had on people, including current and former serving ADF members.
External and independent reviews such as this Inquest help us to make positive change and I thank the NSW Coroner. Defence will carefully consider the findings and recommendations of the Inquest before responding in detail.
Army is continuing to support those involved or impacted by this Inquest. Our thoughts remain with Corporal Turner’s family, friends and unit.
This is also a difficult time for many in the defence and veteran community, particularly those who have lost a loved one.
I encourage anyone who needs support to reach out to the services available.
