Personnel at RAAF Base Amberley can now enjoy the newly upgraded Army and Air Force Canteen Service (AAFCANS) AP2 Kiosk.
The facility was transformed across six weeks, including over the Christmas period.
Works included a full refurbishment of the interior and embellishment of the external shopfront, which was intended to modernise the facility and improve capability and efficiencies.
AAFCANS has added a new counter line, roller door, and a full upgrade to all hospitality equipment, fridges, hot and cold displays, grill, exhaust hood, flooring, ceiling and paintwork.
Outdoor perforated pathway screens have been added to aid weather-proofing, and LED coffee signage creates a little chic.
The artwork on the perforated screens was by Army’s Sergeant Codey Anderson.
“AAFCANS commissioned ADF artist Sergeant Anderson to design emotive graphics depicting the resident units of AP2,” Wing Commander Tanya Evans, senior ADF officer at RAAF Amberley, said.
“While the screens perform a function, they also help to create a relatable connection to the community space.”
The kiosk was initially opened by AAFCANS in November 2016, converting a disused sporting equipment distribution shed into a pop-up concept coffee kiosk for the growing AP2 community.
Units have added value to the precinct, with the inclusion of an outdoor concrete dining area and landscaping.
AAFCANS managing director Tim Manic said the new equipment and capability would enable AAFCANS to support the community with an improved menu.
“Our team have delivered a high-functioning coffee kiosk that will serve the community well,” Mr Manic said.
“AAFCANS has expanded the coffee bean choice for members at AP2, rolling out dual blends to provide extra choice to our customers.”
