Lieutenant Ian Leung, of the 11 Combat Service Support Battalion (11 CSSB), achieved a milestone in his career in completing the demanding All Corps Captains Course.

Currently serving as a lieutenant in 4 Transport Squadron Headquarters, he credited the support of his mentors and peers for his achievement.

“The course was both challenging and rewarding. It not only enhanced my leadership skills but also provided invaluable insights into strategic decision-making,” Lieutenant Leung said.

The course, which focuses on advanced leadership and operational planning, is designed to prepare junior officers for roles of increased responsibility. For Lieutenant Leung, a reservist who just completed a Bachelor of Science at University of Queensland, it also reinforced the importance of collaboration and adaptability.

Senior instructor at the Queensland University Regiment, Major Glenn Mitchell, said reservists brought unique skills and experiences to the table, demonstrating professionalism and commitment.

“Their contributions are vital to maintaining a well-rounded, capable force, and the training they receive ensures they are always prepared for any challenge,” Major Mitchell said.

Incoming Commanding Officer of Queensland University Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Ben Dullroy, said the success of the reservists reflected their dedication and upholding of high standards.

“Their growth as individuals and leaders is a testament to the quality of training they receive, ensuring they are always ready to step into critical roles when needed,” Lieutenant Colonel Dullroy said.

As Lieutenant Leung returns to his unit, he looked forward to applying the knowledge gained from the course to enhance his team’s capabilities.

“Leadership is about empowering others and achieving the mission together,” Lieutenant Leung said.

“This course has equipped me with the tools to do just that.”

For Lieutenant Leung, the journey is far from over as he prepares to study for a Bachelor of Medicine in 2025.
