On top of the culinary world

8 November 2024

A select group of top-performing Navy chefs embarked on a culinary journey at a specialised training program hosted by Rational, the manufacturer of professional kitchen technology.

Commander Russell Strudwick said chefs were recognised for their exceptional skills and potential, and were chosen to enhance their culinary capabilities and drive excellence within their teams.

“The Rational training program not only offers advanced cooking techniques using their latest technologies, it also includes instruction on banqueting, industry catering and the preparation of nutritious cuisine,” Commander Strudwick said.

“The experience aims to foster an environment of collaboration and innovation, encouraging chefs to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers, broadening their culinary repertoire and streamlining food preparation.

“This initiative reflects the Navy’s commitment to culinary excellence and the importance of investing in the professional development of its personnel.

“By partnering with industry leaders like Rational, the Navy is ensuring that its chefs are at the forefront of culinary innovation, ready to meet the diverse needs of service members both at home and abroad.”

The chefs have been inspired to motivate their teams and share the skills and knowledge they have acquired back in their home units.

As these skilled chefs continue to refine their craft, the impact of this training will be felt across the fleet, contributing to the overall mission of providing nutritious and delicious meals to those who serve.
