Under the provisions of the Defence Act 1903, Section 110R, the Inspector–General of the Australian Defence Force must prepare and give to the Minister, for presentation to the Parliament, an annual report on the operations of the office during each financial year.
The Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force (IGADF) annual report for the Financial Year 2020-2021 was presented to Parliament on 14 July 2022. The report showed an increase in the number of complaints submitted to the Office of the IGADF, and an increase in the number of military justice performance audits IGADF audit teams conducted. In addition, the Office of the IGADF was notified of, and commenced inquiries into, the death of 45 Australian Defence Force members. The report also refers to the conclusion of the IGADF Afghanistan Inquiry on 29 October 2020.
