The Australian Government held a walk-in session on PFAS contamination on and around RAAF Base Wagga and Blamey Barracks (Kapooka).
The Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Assistant Minister for Defence, attended the walk-in session to meet with the local community and hear their concerns.
Defence provided the community with the latest information on the remediation and ongoing monitoring of PFAS on and around RAAF Base Wagga and Blamey Barracks. Defence’s PFAS investigation and management team were available to address questions.

On 12 November, Defence held a Community Information Session to provide local residents with an opportunity to discuss the investigations into per- and polyluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on and in the vicinity of RAAF Base Wagga.
Members of the investigation team were available to discuss with the community
the findings of the Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment (HHERA) as
well as outline the next steps in the environmental investigation process.

On 7 June the Department of Defence held a Community Walk-in Session at the Forest Hill Public School Hall to provide information on the environmental investigation into PFAS at RAAF Base Wagga and nearby areas.
The Community Walk-in Session included discussions on the findings of the Detailed Site Investigations and the next steps in the environmental investigation.
On 24 August 2017 Defence held a community walk-in session in Wagga Wagga to discuss the investigation into per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at RAAF Base Wagga and to assist community members to fill out their water use surveys.

In 2017 Defence opened a Water Use Survey as part of the RAAF Base Wagga Environmental Investigation to collect information about water supply and use on properties around the Base.
