PFAS Investigation & Management

Robertson Barracks
In August 2018, Defence completed a detailed environmental investigation into the presence of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on and in the vicinity of Robertson Barracks.

All findings of the investigation are available on the publications page, including detailed reports and factsheets.

Defence has used the findings of the investigation to develop a PFAS Management Area Plan. This plan will inform the activities Defence will undertake to manage, monitor and reduce the risks of PFAS exposure on, and around, the Base.

Defence is committed to regularly updating the community throughout the investigation. As well as community engagement events, updates are provided through the project website, newsletters and factsheets as new information becomes available.

Defence is undertaking ongoing monitoring at Robertson Barracks and the surrounding area to identify any potential changes in the concentration or spread of PFAS contamination. Sampling will occur twice a year for 3 years, followed by a review.

Investigation and Management Timeline

More information about the investigation stages is available on the investigation and management process page.
