The Improved Embarked Logistics Support Helicopter Project (SEA9100 Phase 1) will expand and rationalise the Royal Australian Navy’s support and logistics helicopter fleet through the Foreign Military sales acquisition of additional MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.
The Project will acquire 12 helicopters for operation on the Navy Amphibious and Afloat Support fleet. An additional helicopter will also be acquired to remediate a fleet loss on operations in October 2021, expanding the MH-60R fleet to 36 in total.
The MH-60R Seahawk is a reliable and effective platform which contributes strongly to naval combat power.
The aircraft performs combat and maritime support spanning:
- anti-submarine warfare
- anti-surface warfare
- vertical replenishment
- passenger and cargo transfer
- search and rescue.
Project SEA9100 Phase 1 achieved combined 1st and 2nd Pass Government approval in March 2022. The first aircraft is expected to arrive in Australia in 2025.
