The Australian Defence Force Parliamentary Program (ADFPP) provides opportunities for Members of Parliament to work alongside ADF personnel at all rank levels.
The program aims to increase awareness among parliamentarians of the capabilities of the ADF.
The program was initiated in January 2001 by the Minister for Defence. In February 2001, a Private Member's Bill was introduced to establish the program. The Bill received unanimous bipartisan support.
The program provides insight into the complexities associated with defending Australia and its national interests.
Activities run during Parliamentary recess periods and throughout the year. Activities are available within:
- Royal Australian Navy
- Australian Army
- Royal Australian Air Force
- Defence People Group
- Joint Operations Command
- Joint Capabilities Group.
