ADFELPS Rater Training course

Overview

The ADFELPS Rater Training course (ARTC) familiarises participants with the administration and conduct of the Australian Defence Force English Language Profiling System (ADFELPS).

Graduates will develop an understanding of ADFELPS testing and its application to support course member selection for ADF courses.

ARTC students learn how to mark the reading and listening tests, conduct and rate the speaking and writing tests, and gain skills so as to administer and report test results.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, participants will be able to achieve the following:

  • Conduct an interview for speaking using the ADFELPS
  • Rate English language speaking proficiency using the ADFELPS
  • Rate English language writing proficiency using the ADFELPS
  • Rate ADFELPS listening test papers to determine English language proficiency level
  • Rate ADFELPS reading test papers to determine English language proficiency level
  • Manage and administer ADFELPS testing.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum ADFELPS levels of S7, L7, R7, W7.
  • Completed English Teaching Development (ETDC) or obtained Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) [Defence Cooperation Program students only].

Audience

ADF | Defence APS | International military

Personnel capable of assessing English language proficiency using ADFELPS, including Defence Australian Public Service, Defence Cooperation Education Officers (DCEOs) and key foreign military members.
