Security training is available to security trainees and practitioners, as part of the Defence Industry and Security Program (DISP).
DISP Security Officer training
Defence has developed a DISP Security Officer (SO) training course, which is a modularised e-learning program available through the ADELE Open learning management system.
The training is only available to current DISP members or those in the process of gaining DISP membership. The course is mandatory for all DISP SOs and Chief Security Officers (CSOs).
The course consists of 7 modules, plus an assessment module, that can be accessed at any time and completed at any pace.
Prerequisites: participants must hold a minimum Baseline security clearance to access the course. Visit the AGSVA website for information on clearances.
There are 2 course versions:
- DISP SO Training course – for first time DISP SOs and CSOs.
- DISP SO Refresher course – for DISP SOs and CSOs needing to update their training (every 3 years).
Access
To access this course submit a request via email to disp.info@defence.gov.au and include:
- participant security clearance level

Security Risk Management
All DISP entities have a responsibility to maintain an appropriate system of risk oversight and management by implementing security risk management processes accordingly.
To learn more about security risk management, it is highly recommended to attend the Security Risk Management Workshop.

This course can be delivered either face-to-face or through a virtual classroom via enrolment on the Learn eXcel Perform (LXP).
To ensure attendance on the nominated training day, participants must follow the joining instructions upon enrolment.

When enrolling in the course, trainees can request a copy of the Security Risk Management Resource Guide.
Download a PDF copy of the guide onto a portable electronic device or printout a hard copy and bring it along to the course.
Annual Security Awareness
Defence have developed the Annual Security Awareness (ASA) course which is available to all Defence industry entities.

- SCORM compliant training modules that can be hosted by a DISP entity’s Learning Management System.
Alternatively, entities can develop their own ASA course which must cover all core components of the Defence ASA course.
Industry Security Readiness
The aim of this one-day face-to-face course is to provide the learner an understanding of security considerations during the initial stages of the procurement lifecycle.
It is essential for those who engage with industry, to have knowledge of the security risk process, to allow them to decide appropriate security controls when tendering out to defence industry. One such control may be the use of the DISP.
Access
Enrolment to this course is via the LXP.
To ensure attendance on the nominated training day, participants must follow the joining instructions upon enrolment.
