Defence Indigenous Procurement Strategy

Defence’s Indigenous Procurement Strategy was endorsed in September 2018 and is designed to maximise the number of contracts awarded to Indigenous business, whilst ensuring alignment to the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and achieving value for money.

The strategy demonstrates Defence’s commitment and pathway to delivering the Commonwealth Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP) outcomes and aims to strengthen awareness of, and compliance with, the IPP across Defence.

Engaging with Indigenous businesses enables Defence to meet its IPP targets. Such engagement also contributes to key initiatives outlined in the Defence Reconciliation Action Plan 2019 – 2022 and aligns the Government’s National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
