The analytical methodology we apply here is one that comes naturally – object recognition. In this case we are looking for familiar objects that will provide context on function. Some of the objects we can discern are:

• ships and smaller boats
• shipping containers
• storage areas
• cranes.

• In the middle, a quay; a berthing for bulk/good/transport/patrol vessels; storage/loading facility; and a warehouse.
• On the left, naval berthing; harbour craft (tugboats, navigation vessels); an area for repairs; miscellaneous berthing; and a roll-on roll-off (RORO) facility.

Where are the objects associated with military activity?

This observation uses analysis of shape and tone, with naval vessels generally sleek in shape and dark in tone. Naval objects are observable on the upper left of the image.

What type of facility is this?

Based on the objects identified above, we can assess that this is a port facility. Further, by identifying where the objects are located within the port, we can identify specific functions associated with discrete areas.
