For Industry
The Australian Government is investing $270 billion into Defence capability through the 2020 Defence Strategic Update and Force Structure Plan. This program of investment reinforces the government’s commitment to build a resilient and internationally competitive defence industrial base. With this investment comes opportunities for industry to work with Defence to deliver new capabilities.
Through the AGO Strategy 2025 (PDF) and Defence GEOINT 2030 (PDF), the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) outlined the need to transform the way geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) is collected, analysed and disseminated. AGO recognises that we cannot do this alone. A well-balanced ecosystem of partnerships, including with industry, will be required to draw on the best available data, technology and expertise to deliver leading-edge GEOINT capability. AGO is expanding our engagement with industry to meet the increased demand for GEOINT, leverage innovation, and enable Australian industry to grow in support of Defence interests.
To strengthen this partnership between AGO and industry, AGO participates in wider Defence industry programs, and runs AGO-specific industry programs and projects. These programs, along with details on how to get involved, are outlined below.
AGO News and Opportunities
AGO Analytics Labs Program
The Analytics Labs Program, run by AGO in partnership with FrontierSI, provides a series of challenge topics on machine analytics to industry and academia. Sub-contracts are awarded to the most promising responses. The program is intended to improve AGO’s understanding of modern machine analytics capabilities developed by industry, while raising industry awareness of AGO’s current and emerging challenges.
HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program
Through the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP), industry partners with AGO through the Australian Hydrographic Office to meet the national hydrographic survey function and contribute to safety of navigation efforts. The services under the HIPP are provided by a panel of commercial partners to provide flexibility, value for money to the Commonwealth and enable the growth of the Australian hydrographic industry. Prior to expiration of the current panel in 2024, Defence will commence a panel refresh activity. This will provide new and existing companies with the opportunity to be on the next iteration of the program.
GEOINT Program
The 2020 Force Structure Plan outlined the Australian Government’s commitment to an end-to-end GEOINT capability. The GEOINT Program will achieve this by delivering an enhanced suite of integrated geospatial satellite collection, production and dissemination systems. There will be an ongoing focus on automating existing GEOINT workflows, with opportunities available to industry through the individual projects that make up the GEOINT Program.
