The Australians Dangerously Ill Scheme (AUSDIL) allows an ADF member who has been hospitalised with a serious illness or injury to be supported by an approved visitor.
The ADF Pay and Conditions Manual provides further details about the scheme:
An approved visitor can receive financial assistance for travel, accommodation, meals, and any other necessary support to allow them to assist in the recovery of the member.
The ADF member's chain of command must initiate an AUSDIL request.
