Defence Finance Group (DFG) is a key enabler in Defence and works in partnership with Groups and Services to deliver high quality budget and financial management outcomes through the provision of policies, processes, services, systems and advice.
With a growing team of over 600 people across Australia, DFG is the largest finance function in the Commonwealth, managing over $50 billion in funding.
DFG delivers financial insight to inform decision-making in support of Defence’s mission and objectives. They advise and partner with Groups and Services on budget and financial matters to protect and support the organisation through the application of appropriate financial controls and assurance.
Divisions
Budgets and Financial Services Division
Budgets and Financial Services Division delivers the full range of central financial functions including Commonwealth and internal budgeting and statutory financial requirements. The division monitors the effectiveness of Defence's financial controls and financial compliance, and provides strategic business guidance on Defence financial systems, processes and training.
Financial Performance and Management Division
Financial Performance and Management Division provides client-facing finance partners across the country who advise and support senior leaders and other managers on budget and financial matters. The division also provides clear and consistent advice on budgets, delegations, funding, costing financial policies and financial commitments, to enhance decision-making and financial performance.
