Defence Digital Group (DDG) shapes, delivers and sustains an integrated and scalable ICT environment, the Single Information Environment (SIE), to enable Defence able to fight and win in the digital age.
The SIE encompasses the computing and communication infrastructure of Defence, along with the management systems and people that deliver and sustain it.
The infrastructure DDG provides is essential and integral to core Defence functions including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, communications, information warfare, command and management.
It is the responsibility of DDG to ensure that Defence has a dependable, secure and integrated information environment, capable of supporting its operational and management needs.
Divisions
Digital Capability Management Division (DCMD)
The Digital Capability Management Division (DCMD) is responsible for DDG work take-on and executing all DDG Capability Manager functions across the One Defence Capability System Life-Cycle for the Enterprise ICT program and in support of external Capability Managers where there are ICT considerations. In addition the Division is responsible for the coordination and assurance of Enterprise ICT capabilities currently deployed in the Single Information Environment, this is achieved by working with the relevant Systems Division and JCG ICT Operations Division to ensure agreed service levels are met.
Strategy and Architecture Division (SAD)
The Strategy and Architecture Division (SAD) is responsible for supporting technology investment decisions in Defence. This is achieved by developing Defence’s digital strategy and designing the target state enterprise architecture to achieve the strategy. In addition the Division will provide a Digital Capability Incubator to support adoption of contemporary and innovative digital technology via agile proofs-of-concept, this will provide Capability Managers with early project risk reduction insights and an ability to fast-track solution design.
Military Systems Division (MSD)
The Military Systems Division (MSD) is responsible for the project management, engineering and sustainment outcomes required to deliver projects and sustain resultant military ICT capability. The Division works closely with the relevant external Capability Manager and other DDG divisions to ensure the realisation of required Defence war fighter effects.
Enterprise Systems Division (ESD)
The Enterprise Systems Division (ESD) is responsible for the project management, engineering and sustainment outcomes required to provide Defence’s foundational Enterprise ICT capability to enable the Defence Single Information Environment. In addition the Division is responsible for the project management, engineering and sustainment outcomes required to deliver projects and sustain resultant capability on behalf on external corporate Capability Managers.
Enterprise Resource Planning Division (ERPD)
The Enterprise Resource Planning Division (ERPD) is responsible for the project management, engineering and sustainment outcomes required to achieve Defence’s Enterprise Resource Planning capability. In addition, the Division sustains enduring digital capabilities within the scope of future Enterprise Resource Planning capability releases.
Group Operations Division (GOD)
The Group Operations Division (GOD) is responsible for leading Group business operations functions and reform activities, this is achieved by designing and implementing the DDG Governance framework and modelling the underlying processes and ways of working of the group. The Division also works to optimise Group performance and strengthen industry partnerships through a centralised commercial capability. In addition the Division also provides a Portfolio Management Office capability that will design and implement a Portfolio, Program and Project Management (P3M) framework focused on delivering consistency, transparency and visibility across DDG to enable the right decisions at the right time.
