On 5 November, the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister the Hon. Richard Marles MP and the Minister for Defence Personnel the Hon. Matt Keogh MP released the 2024 Defence Workforce Plan.
The National Defence Strategy is our blueprint to guide the significant and urgent changes required to address Australia’s strategic circumstances. Its successful delivery depends on recruiting, retaining and growing the highly specialised and skilled workforce required to meet Defence’s needs.
The Defence Workforce Plan examines planning and development, including the growth and future needs, of the integrated, focused force. It addresses Australian Defence Force (ADF) recruitment and retention, as well as Defence’s organisational culture, wellbeing and support to ADF members and their families.
The Plan also details how we will continue to invest in our Australian Public Service (APS) workforce, recognising the value that a strong APS brings to Australia’s national defence.
