Centre for Defence Industry Capability Review

In December 2019 the Minister for Defence Industry commissioned the co-chairs of the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) Advisory Board, Ms Kate Carnell AO and Mr Tony Fraser AO CSC, to undertake a review of CDIC.

This Government initiative is to build positive and productive relationships with industry and Defence to build a globally competitive and sustainable Australian industry. CDIC was replaced by the Office of Defence Industry Support in 2021.

The CDIC review's purpose was to assess the existing operational model and ensure it can continue supporting the growth of Australian sovereign defence industry now and into the future.

An external consulting firm conducted the review to ensure the independence of the review.

Key dates include:

  • 15 April 2020 - Review began and consultation commenced.
  • 24 May 2020 - Consultation closed.
  • 15 September 2020 - Review findings and recommendations were provided to Government.
