Defence undertakes routine monitoring and targeted programs to identify, understand and address potential risks to human health and the environment from per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and other contamination across the Defence estate.

In addition to the 28 priority sites, there are other sites across the Defence estate that are investigated and managed. Defence undertakes site specific investigations and develops management and remediation plans at these locations if required.

Construction and maintenance requirements for managing PFAS contamination are outlined in the PFAS Construction and Maintenance Framework.
