Overview
The purpose of the National Airfields Capital Works – Queensland (QLD) project is to provide major maintenance of aircraft pavements and airfield lighting at RAAF Base Townsville in QLD.
The timeline for Parliamentary Works Committee repetitive works exemption approval is Q1 2024.
Community information
An Airside Method of Working Plan will be developed in conjunction with the civilian airport operator, Townsville Airport Pty Ltd, which seeks to minimise the impact on airline operations.
Project details
This project will resurface selected end of life aircraft pavements and replace associated airfield lighting. Works are scheduled between 2024 and 2026.
The project will be delivered concurrently with previously approved projects at RAAF Base Townsville:
- P0006 (approved on 19 March 2015) involving runway and taxiway maintenance works
- AIR7000 Phase 2B (expediency achieved on 4 March 2015) involving a 400 metre runway extension and other airfield works to support P-8A Poseidon aircraft operations.
Fulton Hogan has been selected for the provision of constructability advice and staging advice for the Airside Method of Working Plan in the development phase.
