Facilities to Support Naval Operations in the North

Overview

The Facilities to Support Naval Operations in the North project and the Larrakeyah Barracks Redevelopment project are being jointly delivered under the Larrakeyah Defence Precinct Redevelopment Program.  Construction commenced mid-2018 and works are expected to be completed in early 2024.

This project will provide a new wharf and a new ready-use fuel storage facility to support naval operations in the North. 

Community information

Defence recognises the importance of consulting with local residents, statutory authorities and other interested stakeholders on the project.

Government, local community, and industry groups have been consulted on the proposed works, and are updated on the project's progress.

Project details

Project element Description
New wharf
  • construction of a new 250 m long wharf connected to the hardstand via two approach bridges.
Hardstand and associated buildings
  • Construction of a 3000 sqm hardstand with associated buildings to support the new wharf and an additional access road from Allen Avenue to the hardstand area.
Ready use fuel facility
  • Construction of a new ready-use fuel facility with a 3.5 ml storage capacity.
