About the base
The regency-style Victoria Barracks is one of the best displays of military architecture and was designed by Lieutenant-Colonel George Barney, who also built Fort Denison. It is a significant heritage site and home to the Headquarters of Forces Command.
Access
Moore Park Road is the vehicle access point and also the Victoria Barracks Sydney Pass Office / Visitor Reception Centre.
Upon arrival the driver must stop in the driveway and swipe their Defence Common Access Card (DCAC) for authorised entry. All vehicle passengers must have an active DCAC activated to swipe to enter. If passengers do not have a DCAC, they must exit the vehicle and present to the pass office for a Visitor Identification Card (VIC). Security Officer will provide further instruction to the driver.
Bicycle riders are to dismount bicycle and enter/exit via the swing gate near Nurses Lane. Pedestrian and bicycle riders are not permitted to use the Moore Park vehicle access point containing the active vehicle barrier.
Oxford Street entrance in Paddington is by pedestrian only via a turnstile requiring an activated DCAC.
All visitors without a Defence Common Access Card to attend the visitor reception centre/pass office on Moore Park road for host to arrive and be escorted onto base. Host can be contacted from visitor reception centre/pass office.
No pets allowed, exception is recognised service/working/assistance animals.
No Photography of personnel or buildings is allowed without prior permission.
Helipad located on ovals are utilised at times by Defence and rescue helicopters. During landing and departure of these aircraft, vehicle and pedestrians must stay clear of the landing zones and wait until the Helipad has shut down before proceeding on the roadway.
Road rules
Speed limit is 20km/h throughout the base unless otherwise signposted, carpark 10km/h and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed military members. Driving in the vicinity of married quarters speed is not to exceed 10km/h.
No reverse parking of vehicles on base due at any times due to exhaust fumes damaging heritage structures.
Vehicles and Pedestrians share the road on Victoria Barracks
There is no provision for charging Electric Vehicles (EV) on base, and owners are not permitted to hook up their EV's to on base electricity outlets.

All stairs can be steep and require caution when in use. Leaf and vegetation debris falls on on external stairs during the day/night prior to early morning removal. |

Drivers must slow down and exercise extreme caution when driving through low lit areas. Pedestrians must also be cautious by following painted paths on roads. |
