Robertson Barracks

About the base

The Army's major establishment in the Northern Territory and home to the 1st Brigade and 1st Aviation Regiment. The units at Robertson include Armoured, Engineers, Signals, Infantry, Medical Corps, Aviation and other Combat Service Support units.

Access

Gates access have varying entrance and exit times. 

  • Gate 8 (Main Base Access Point) - Off McMillans Road on MacLaurin Drive, open 24 hours
  • Gate 3 (Secondary Base Access Point) - Thorngate Road, open 6 am - 6 pm Monday – Friday
  • Gate 1 (Secondary Base Access Point - Pass Holders Only) - Thorngate Road (Paratus Parade) entry only 6 am - 8 am, exit only 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
  • Gate 7 (Secondary Base Exit Point) - Exit available via, Campbell Road, Lighthorse Drive 4 pm - 5 pm weekdays only. 
  • Pass Office & New/Replacement DCAC ID Cards – Gate 3 Thorngate Road (Robertson Road) 9 am - 4 pm weekdays (excluding public holidays)

Civilian Oversize / Overmass (OSOM) delivery vehicles are permitted access to Joint Logistics Unit (North) via Gate 8, MacLaurin Drive, following prior arrangement with the unit.

Domestic animals are NOT permitted on the base. Assistance dogs, military working dogs from other locations, and other working animals are permitted entry following prior notification through Wilson Security.

Road rules

Speed limit is 40km/h throughout out base unless otherwise signposted, 20km/h off road and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed military members.

Sirens will communicate information about the base security status and procedures. In the event you hear any of the following emergency warning tones, stop what you are doing immediately and follow the direction of your escort or ECO Warden. In the absence of direction, follow the procedures below and those detailed in the following pages of the National Base Induction.

Alert

‘beep, beep, beep’ tone + ‘alert alert alert’ voice command

Prepare to receive direction and maintain awareness.

Evacuation

‘whoop, whoop, whoop’ tone + ‘evacuate, evacuate, evacuate’ voice command

Exit building and assemble at predetermined assembly area. Remain at assembly area and await further direction.

Lockdown

Rapid short ‘beeping’ tone + ‘lockdown, lockdown, lockdown’ voice command

Follow the CLOSE procedure.

  • Close windows, blinds, doors and turn off lights.
  • Lock computers and put documents away.
  • Out-of-sight and minimise movement.
  • Stay silent and turn off phones.
  • Endure and maintain.

Stand down

Low-pitched ‘buzzing’ tone + ‘stand-down, stand-down, stand-down’ voice command

Resume normal activities.

Call 000 for life threatening, critical or serious situations.
