Access
On arrival you must present your Defence Common Access Card at the Access Control Point located on Ingham Road (at the Pilkington Street intersection).

Road rules
Speed limit is 40 km/h throughout the base unless otherwise signposted and is not to exceed 10 km/h when overtaking formed military members.
Hazards
Hazard Name |
Description |
Airfield/Airside |
Do not enter airside, runways or tarmacs unless authorised to do so or accompanied by an authorised person. |
Noise |
The base has an active airfield and is subject to aircraft noise. Do not enter areas unless authorised to do so and wearing the appropriate PPE. |
Radiation/Hazardous substances |
These areas have restricted access. Abide by the warning signs and wear any appropriate PPE. |
Live firing |
Do not enter the range area unless authorised to do so or accompanied by an authorised person. A red flag will signify when live firing is in progress. |
Crocodiles |
Crocodiles are known to inhabit wetland areas on base. These areas should be avoided wherever possible, or ensure safety precautions are taken if needing to work in the vicinity. Be alert for signage that indicates recent sightings. |
Explosive Ordnance |
It is prohibited to enter areas where explosive ordnance is stored and prepared. A red flag will signify when these areas are handling or preparing ordnance. |
Sirens will communicate information about the base security status and procedures. In the event you hear any of the following emergency warning tones, stop what you are doing immediately and follow the direction of your escort or ECO Warden. In the absence of direction, follow the procedures below and those detailed in the following pages of the National Base Induction.
