About the base
Provides administrative support to Navy personnel located in the Canberra area. Harman is home to various Groups, Services, Reservists and a Naval Cadet unit.
Access
Access to HMAS Harman is via the main entry gate on Wilmetts St. A valid Defence Common Access Card (DCAC) must be shown on entry.
All visitors that do not hold a DCAC must report to the office at the main entry gate to gain a Visitor Identification Card.
HMAS Harman has Unit Area access restrictions. Unit Areas should be contacted directly if access is required to their site/unit line.
Visiting hours
The Gangway is staffed 24/7 with Security.
Road rules
Speed limit is 40km/h throughout the base unless otherwise signposted and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed military members.
Sirens will communicate information about the base security status and procedures. In the event you hear any of the following emergency warning tones, stop what you are doing immediately and follow the direction of your escort or ECO Warden. In the absence of direction, follow the procedures below and those detailed in the following pages of the National Base Induction.
