Access

Authorised vehicle access is via the front gate entrance.

Based on compliance with the below-mentioned requirements. Persons must confirm that they are conversant and compliant with the base COVID-19 safety strategy including:

  • Maintaining a current and up to date knowledge of the latest ACT Government COVID-19 health advice.
  • Not currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of taste, and loss of smell.
  • Refraining from visiting COVID-19 affected areas advised by ACT Government COVID-19 updates
  • Completing mandatory testing and self-isolation as a result of visiting a COVID-19 affected area ACT Government getting tested
  • Adherence and implementation of the most current and up to date personal hygiene and physical (social) distancing requirements

Noncompliance or inability to abide by the requirements outlined may result in base access requests being declined and disciplinary action being taken.

Fishing: Restricted to authorised personnel and a NSW Recreational Fishing Licence is required. Fishing is restricted to after hours on the main wharf. Access through the Residential Heritage Park housing precinct in Creswell is not permitted unless you are deemed a resident, or visitor to a resident who maintains a service residence in that area.

Road rules

Speed limits within HMAS Creswell are sign posted. In most areas the speed limit is 40km/h.

Vehicles proceeding along a road towards a formed squad must stop and allow the squad to pass. No vehicle is authorised to pass or overtake a formed squad unless the squad commander indicates that it is safe to do so. Vehicles passing a formed squad are to do so at a safe speed, not more than 10km/hr.

Airfield Identified by the red Foreign Object Debris (FOD) lines painted on access roads, or signage indicating requirement to contact Air Traffic Control before proceeding Active military airfield (Jervis Bay Airfield - JBAF), all visitors and personnel working on JBAF must have an understanding of airside and non-airside areas and applicable access requirements.

Sirens will communicate information about the base security status and procedures. In the event you hear any of the following emergency warning tones, stop what you are doing immediately and follow the direction of your escort or ECO Warden. In the absence of direction, follow the procedures below and those detailed in the following pages of the National Base Induction.

Follow the CLOSE procedure.

  • Close windows, blinds, doors and turn off lights.
  • Lock computers and put documents away.
  • Out-of-sight and minimise movement.
  • Stay silent and turn off phones.
  • Endure and maintain.

Stand down

Low-pitched ‘buzzing’ tone + ‘stand-down, stand-down, stand-down’ voice command

Resume normal activities.
