The Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) and the Secretary to the Department of Defence, as the employing authorities, have expressed their duty of care and commitment to safety in the Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) by issuing the Defence Work Health & Safety Policy Statement.
The Work Health and Safety Act (Cth) 2011 applies to all Defence employees, including permanent members and reserves in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), Defence Australian Public Service employees, and Navy, Army and Air Force Cadets when performing activities in connection with the activities of the Australian Defence Force Cadets. Every person in the ADO has a duty of care in regard to safety.
The purpose of the SEG Work Health & Safety Management System is to describe the structure, systems and processes used by SEG to manage Work Health and Safety. This was developed to uphold our responsibilities under the Work and Health and Safety Act (Cth) 2011, to ensure all staff understand their personal responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace, systematically manage the health and safety of the workplace; and uphold the health and safety of our people.
