Aircraft Noise Explained

Air Force plays a critical role in combat, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.

Whatever mission Air Force undertakes, aircrew must be ready to respond anytime, anywhere, often without time for work up training.

Some Defence flying operations are conducted in a manner similar to civil aircraft. However, our unique requirements, aircraft and operating environment mean that some flying is inherently different.

For this reason, military flying is exempt from the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 that govern all civil aircraft operations in Australia. Some of the key differences between military and civil flying include flight paths, low level flying, night flying, and the type of aircraft engines.
