The Pre-Intermediate Australian English Language Course (PIAELC) is a 12 week course which aims to assist learners with an entry level of ADFELPS 4 to develop all four language macro-skills. The course also aims to raise awareness of strategies and build competencies that will result in an exit score of ADFELPS level 5. It is expected that this will then provide a pathway for many learners to progress on to the Intermediate Australian English Language Course. The course also focuses on foundation level academic skills, and will include excursions and whole-class activities that further activate language learnt.
The Intermediate Australian English Language Course is a 13-week course to prepare international military personnel linguistically, culturally and academically for their participation in training or employment. The Course focuses on improving reading, writing, listening and speaking proficiency in a general and military context.
There are three Advanced Australian English Language Courses. The courses are designed to develop English language proficiency and the military and sociocultural knowledge for students attending other courses requiring higher level of language skills. The courses on offer are:
The English for Specific Purposes Course is a special language bridging course to prepare students for attendance on other education and training courses. In particular, for Defence Cooperation Scholarship Program students undertaking postgraduate courses and students attending the Royal Australian Air Force Flying Instructor Course.
