Travis Ashe - Homecoming for Travis
When the Australian Guided Missile Frigate HMAS Newcastle finished its open day last weekend, it gave Beerwah’s Able Seaman Travis Ashe the chance to relax by the family pool back home and have a gentle trek through the rainforests once again.
Travis attended Burnside High school and when he joined the Navy he specialised as a stores manager.
Travis’s four years in the Navy have included shore postings to Darwin and Sydney, and sea-time aboard amphibious transport ship HMAS Kanimbla and now frogate HMAS Newcastle.
Travis now has his sights firmly set on promotion to senior sailor.
What Travis has enjoyed the most is the companionship and teamwork amongst the ship’s company.
HMAS Newcastle visited Brisbane from Friday 16 in support of Brisbane Navy Week.
