The Black Hawk helicopters of B Squadron 5th aviation Regiment, led civilian helicopters out of the village of Popondetta to deliver desperately needed aid to remote villages effected by the floods that struck Oro province in Papua New Guinea (PNG) after cyclone Guba.

C-17 in Operation Papua New Guinea assist
A new era in ADF aid operations saw a RAAF C-17 arrive in Port Moresby on its first ever flight on a humanitarian mission as part of Operation PNG Assist to support the government of Papua New Guinea's disaster relief efforrt in Oro Province.
