The Primary Health Care Teams

In October 2005 a devastating earthquake sent a shock wave through South Asia. On 11 November 2005, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) deployed a contingent of medical specialists to provide medical assistance to the people of the Dhanni region.

During their deployment ADF personnel have successfully treated over one thousand injuries and put in place an immunisation program for the children of the Dhanni region which will have benefits well into the coming years.

On 6 March 2006, the Primary Health Care Teams will depart Pakistan and return to Australia after completing a successful mission.

Captain Matthew Colquhoun repairs a blocked drain at Camp Bradman, the base for the Australian Medical team in the Dhanni region. A cold front came through the mountain area and brought 48 hours of heavy rain. This rain has delayed the pack up of Camp Bradman, but Matthew does not believe this will hamper the extraction of the Australian medical team.
