In October 2005 a devastating earthquake sent a shock wave through South Asia. On 11 November 2005, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) deployed a contingent of medical specialists to provide medical assistance to the people of the Dhanni region.

During their deployment ADF personnel have successfully treated over one thousand injuries and put in place an immunisation program for the children of the Dhanni region which will have benefits well into the coming years.

On 6 March 2006, the Primary Health Care Teams will depart Pakistan and return to Australia after completing a successful mission.
