Army 5th Aviation Regiment deployed to Pakistan

Members of the Townsville-based Australian Army 5th Aviation Regiment deployed to Pakistan on 16 November 2005 as part of the Australian Defence Force humanitarian assistance mission in areas affected by the 8 October earthquake.

The Operation Pakistan Assist deployment comprises about 140 personnel, including a command element, medical teams, aviation detachment, logistics and communication personnel.

Four Black Hawk helicopters will be deployed to provide essential transport and support tasks to remote regional communities which have limited road access around the town of Dhanni, on the Pakistan side of the Kashmir Line Of Control.
