Reunion for Penang schoolies

FORMER students, staff and supporters of RAAF School Penang are invited to attend the school’s latest reunion, planned for Adelaide next year.

RAAF School Penang was established in 1958 to provide for the educational needs of children of Air Force personnel serving at RAAF Base Butterworth, Malaysia. School enrolments reached a high of 1100 in 1977, with the school structure undergoing numerous extensions and upgrades to meet demand.

Australia’s diminishing commitment to Malaysia and the subsequent drastic decline of numbers at Butterworth caused the school to close by mid-1988.

Those who would like to know more about the Adelaide reunion – on April 1, 2006 – can log on to http://www.raafschoolpenang.com to register their interest.
