Eulogy Requests

During the period November 2016 to June 2017, the National Archives of Australia (NAA) will be relocating records to the new National Archives Preservation Facility (NAPF). While this is happening there will be disruption to Defence's access to the NAA collection. Defence will be unable to borrow records which are stored in Canberra after 30 October 2016. Access will become available again from 1 July 2017.

However, the NAA has established emergency access arrangements that will enable Defence Archives access to records required for creating a Statement of Service for Eulogy purposes for deceased former ADF members. However, it may take up to several days to access the records for this purpose. During this time period Defence Archives will continue to do its best to meet requested timelines for Eulogy purposes; however, there will likely be cases where requested timeframes are not met. If a Statement of Service is not able to be provided in time for a funeral, unless advised otherwise, Defence Archives will complete the Statement of Service and provide it to the requestor for commemorative purposes.

During this time period, please provide as much notice as possible when requesting a Statement of Service for a Eulogy.
