ADF Military Surgery

Opportunities for Collaboration

By sponsoring the ADF Chair in Military Surgery and Medicine, the Australian Defence Force hopes to provide a focus for research relevant to both military and civilian trauma patients. Australian and international research groups are invited to consider the value of collaboration with the ADF in research of this nature.

Examples of current or planned collaborations include:

  • Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre: The Prophylactic hypOthermia trial to Lessen trAumatic bRain injury-(POLAR) Randomised Controlled Trial
  • Medical Engineering Research Facility, Queensland University of Technology: Studies of fluid resuscitation in an ovine model of exsanguinating haemorrhage.
  • University of Western Australia: Utility of circulating human an bacterial DNA as severity markers and guides to therapy in human sepsis
