ADF Mental Health Reform Program

In 2009, the Government commissioned Professor David Dunt to conduct an independent review of ADF mental health support services, including the transition to the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and to determine the extent to which services met the needs of serving and transitioning ADF Members.

In his report, Mental Health Care in the ADF and Transition to Discharge, Professor Dunt stated that some of the programs surpassed similar initiatives in other Australian workplaces and international military forces. Nevertheless, the review highlighted gaps in the delivery of mental health services, and 52 recommendations were made for reforms and enhancements.
