Jerrabomberra Playgroup provides an early learning facility for young children (aged 0-5 years) and their parents/carers. They also offer an avenue for new friendships, support and social interaction. The children participate in activities and social situations to assist in their growth and development.

Amberley Defence Communities

Amberley Defence Communities support Defence personnel and their families through regular activities and provide continued support for the unique challenges faced by members of the Defence community.

Anklebiters Playgroup

The playgroup provides a centre for children to play, information for parents, craft groups and infant support.

Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation

Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation delivers respite and education programs for Defence children who have parent/s with a mental illness, including PTSD.

Australian Military Wives Choir

The choir was established in Canberra in 2012 and members are keen to help women start their own choirs in other locations. In Canberra, the choir meets on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Bandiana Neighbourhood House

Bandiana Neighbourhood House is located in Gaza Ridge Barracks and offers a variety of activities including playgroup, craft interest groups, childcares, health and wellbeing courses, social activities and support programs.

Baranduda Community Centre

Baranduda Community Centre provides a variety of educational, recreational, leisure, cultural, social and community support programs in Wodonga. Their programs include support to ADF children to provide life skills and develop and foster healthy relationships.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Australia

Big Brothers Big Sisters provide programs and mentoring to support vulnerable Defence children in the North Brisbane area.

Billeroy Community Centre

The Billeroy Community Centre at Larrakeyah Barracks have playgroup, coffee mornings , youth zone, craft and fitness groups as well as family dinners. The Centre welcomes all Defence families, both ADF and civilian.

Cerberus Cottage Family & Friends Inc.

Cerberus Cottage supports the running of the centre and events and activities for Defence families posted to HMAS Cerberus.

Defence Richmond Family Centre

The Defence Richmond Family Centre at RAAF Base Richmond offers support to ADF families through a range of social and eduationaleducational activities such as playgroup, sewing and crafts and first aid courses.

Dowsing Point Community Centre

Dowsing Point Community Centre is located at Derwent Barracks and offers a variety of activities including playgroup, craft interest groups, childcare, health and wellbeing courses, social activities and support programs.

Defence Special Needs Support Group

The Defence Special Needs Support Group supports the delivery of family support services including peer support, information assistance and advocacy to Defence families with special needs.

Duntroon Community Centre

Duntroon Community Centre’s support services to Defence families in the Canberra region include playgroups and playschool programs, crafting clubs, babysitting and walking groups, a library, and self-development courses.

East Sale Family Group

East Sale Family Group provides a craft group, playgroup, book club, and youth group, and publishes a bimonthly newsletter.

Gallipoli Barracks Community Centre holds events and activities including Playgroup, Mums and Bubs and Craft for Defence families located at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane.

Gungahlin Defence Families Playgroup

The group runs a different craft activity for the kids every week, lots of indoor and outdoor toys, a cubby house, a video, DVD and book library to borrow from, and a morning tea for the mums and dads.

Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce Industry and Tourism Inc

The Defence Families Community Employment project will partner with Experience Works North Queensland to offer Defence families’ strength based programs that optimise employment prospects and business development solutions in the region.

Holsworthy Family Group

Providing Defence families living in the Liverpool region west of Sydney with access to a playgroup, craft sessions and a toy library, the Holsworthy Family Group is a point of contact, a resource centre, and social place to meet and make new friends from the Defence and wider civilian communities.

JobQuest - Penrith Skills

JobQuest supports a young leaders project designed to support Defence families in the Port Stephens and Williamtown areas, focusing on building leadership skills, employability skills and community connections for high school aged students and their families.

Kapooka Neighbourhood House

Kapooka Neighbourhood House supports the ongoing delivery of services to ADF families in the Kapooka region. Specifically, the organisation provides self development courses; playgroup and craft group activities.

Karrakatta Community House (KCH)

Located at Irwin Barracks, the centre provides Defence and civilian families with resources and links to their community. Regular activities include craft classes, a kids club and playgroups. Call: 08 9385 0554

Located at Dundas in Sydney, Kissingpoint Cottage runs adult educational programs, a playgroup, craft sessions and can provide a range of community information to Defence families in the region.

La Luna Youth Arts

For ADF families in the Townsville area, La Luna Youth Arts provides a range of activities and classes such as drama, circus and visual arts. Their programs cater for children from the age of 4, right through to adults. The classes help build confidence and resilience for times when their parents/carers are deployed.

Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House (LNH) provides support programs to tri-service families in Darwin.

Little Diggers Community Centre

The community centre provides a range of weekly activities for both Defence and non-Defence families in Cairns. Programs include playgroup, bellies and bubs and a range of workshops including first aid, cooking and self-defence sessions.

Mactier Community Centre

Mactier Community Centre provides playgroups, craft, sporting activities, a website, and publishes a local newsletter.

Marilla House Community Centre

Supports the ongoing delivery of services to ADF families. The organisation provides various weekly playgroups, parenting sessions and support programs.

My Space Inc.

My Space supports young people and their families who are affected by a disability or mental health disorder. My Space will run a pilot project for Defence families in Cairns who have dependants with additional needs.

Necana Association

Necana Association is located in Wodonga and offers the Necana Magazine, the Pac a Picnic program, coffee club, teen’s program and community information and family fun days.

Network Tindal

Network Tindal currently facilitates a number of community events throughout the year ranging from community fairs, school holiday activities, and programs for adults and children.

North East Defence Community

The North East Defence Community offers playgroups, school holiday activities, youth groups, a library and a monthly newsletter for Defence families in South Australia.

Playgroups QLD

For ADF families in the Canungra area, Playgroups QLD provides a children’s program involving storytelling, healthy eating and physical play activities.

Pilbara Regiment Family Group Inc

The Pilbara Regiment Family Group provides social networks, events and education for Defence families posted to the Pilbara Region. The group supports Defence families at all six Depots of the Regiment from Port Hedland to Carnarvon in Western Australia and from the coast to the border with the Northern Territory.

Power Community Ltd

Power partners with Power to be Positive, a group of child psychologists to deliver the program with a focus on positive thinking, positive mental health and resilience. Power targets primary schools that have a large number of Defence families enrolled at their schools.

Puckapunyal and District Neighbourhood Centre Inc

The centre connects Defence families with one another and the wider community through numerous programs and activities. This includes a range of children’s programs such as dance, Tumble Tots and Story Time. The centre has a fitness program including Zumba, tennis and bootcamp. There’s also a coffee club, craft group, mums and bubs, school holiday activities and several social events throughout the year.

Puckapunyal Kindergarten Association Incorporated


The association provides kindergarten programs for Defence families based at Puckapunyal. Families from the wider community also access the program. The kindergarten runs a program for four-year-olds (15 hrs per week) and a program for three-year-olds (one or two three-hour sessions per week).

Remembrance Foundation— Modern Soldier Social Media


Supports the publication, illustration and release of children’s books in relation to the unique experiences of military life that will help military children through the tough times when family members are deployed.

Robertson Barracks Family Group offers weekly playgroups, coffee mornings; youth get togethers, book club, personal wellbeing programs and social activities.

Top Ender Tri Service Magazine

The Top Ender magazine is produced bi-monthly and is delivered to Defence households throughout Darwin, Katherine and surrounds. The magazine provides local and Defence related information, news and events to those new to the posting locality.
