Anglicare Victoria

Anglicare Victoria aims to offer the LYFT Up Your Family program to families posted to HMAS Cerberus. The program a six-week early intervention group for parents/carers of young people aged 12 to 25 who are experimenting, misusing drugs or alcohol and displaying challenging behaviours. The funding will support two qualified and experience facilitators and assist with the costs associated with running these programs.

Anklebiters Playgroup
(Randwick Family Centre)

Anklebiters Playgroup aims to continue offering a safe place for families and serving members of all ages to come and connect with like-minded people. The funding will support weekly playgroup costs as well as the expansion of services including Friday drop-ins, fitness sessions, after school activities, book club and wellbeing and family events.

Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation

Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation supports Defence children living in families affected by mental illness, including PTSD.  The foundation aims to deliver camps and school holiday activity days to provide kids with respite from their home life, a safe environment to share their experiences, plus mental health education and counselling focussed on coping skills and building resilience.

Australian Military Wives Choir

The choir was established in Canberra in 2012 and members are keen to help women start their own choirs in other locations. The choir welcomes women who have a significant relationship with an Australian Defence Force member or foreign defence force member stationed in Australia. This includes partners, daughters, mothers and sisters.
Choirs aim to meet once a fortnight for rehearsals which include musical education and social interaction, all underpinned by the natural joy that comes from singing.

Bandiana Neighbourhood House

Bandiana Neighbourhood House continue to offer a range of services, events, and activities to support a strengthened sense of community for Defence families. Kids, teens and adult programs are run during the year with a focus on building relationships, self-reliance, and self-esteem.

Cerberus Cottage aims to continue to offer Defence families in Crib Point an opportunity to create social networks within their community due to the unique challenges of Defence life.

DSNSG aims to continue offering support to Defence families who have a dependent with special needs by providing assistance, information and being an advocate on problems and issues that arise in the day to day living of a special needs family managing the Defence lifestyle. East Sale Family Group aims to continue to offer a range of community support services to assist members to settle into, actively participate in, and contribute to the local community. Grow aims to offer the Get Growing program focused on youth aged 10-17 (year levels 5-12) who would benefit from the learning of skills and tools to create and maintain social and emotional wellbeing. The funding will support group sessions for teens to learn social and self-regulation skills that support education and employment.

JobQuest - Penrith Skills for Jobs Ltd

JobQuest supports a young leaders project designed to support Defence families in the Port Stephens and Williamtown areas, focusing on building leadership skills, employability skills and community connections for high school aged students and their families.

My Space Inc

My Space Inc continue to offer the DF Enable program to Defence families in Cairns, the program is designed to reduce stress, fatigue and burnout of the primary carer and to assist Defence families to maintain home routines and healthy family relationships particularly during parental absence. The organisation meets with individual families to define their needs about absence support, in context of the child’s individual needs. Assistance may include linking to mainstream or specialised community services or offering respite in a form that meets the child’s family requirements.

Necana Association aims to continue to offer activities, events and programs that will assist Defence families with support services and local community interaction. The funding will support the publication of the NECANA magazine, the pac-a-picnic and teens in action program.

Network Tindal continue to offer quality community support and engagement for Defence families of value and practical benefit. Picabeen Community Association Inc.

Picabeen Community Association aims to offer its program through group sessions at local schools and their own centre, also giving one-on-one case management for more complex circumstances. The program will be tailored for individual schools, combining young men’s and women’s groups, social and emotional resilience groups, anger management groups, and sessions on practical living, several youth drop-in services to engage in learning and obtain social worker assistance, and Triple P Parenting classes from fully trained staff to educate parents on raising healthy children and looking after themselves as carers.

Playgroup of the NT

Playgroup of the NT offers a Frangipani Playgroup at Playgroup House in Marrara which is a post-natal depression and anxiety playgroup to allow Defence families who wish to share common issues and postings and dealing with their families on their own. Playgroup NT also support the Defence community centres in Darwin to run some of their most popular programs with the support of experienced community development workers. These include the Seven Steps to Safety, baby play, craft activities and workshops in areas such as sensory play. Other support includes parenting programs and first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis courses.

Port Moresby Australian Defence Families Club

Port Moresby Australian Defence Families Club aims to offer a strengthened sense of community to Defence families and an opportunity to come together for mutual support, education and information sharing in this recognised hardship posting locality.  Funding will support a welcome function, family events and education activities.

Power Community Limited

Power Community continue to utilise their staff and services in conjunction with Port Adelaide Football club players to facilitate and implement the Power to be Positive program for school students at Port Adelaide Football Club facilities. The program focuses on positive thinking, gratitude, mindfulness, growing from challenges and goal-setting.  Power Community will also offer a leadership event for selected secondary school students. Exclusive non-game day family events will also be run at Adelaide Oval and Alberton Oval, with various game day activities planned as well, such as families being invited to attend an ANZAC round game.

Sutherland Shire Family Services aims to offer specialised casework, parenting programs, youth and family caseworker services, aboriginal support programs, and domestic violence support services. The funding will support the employment of a caseworker 3 days a week to run the Defence Family Support program and support families for 6-12 months. Referrals for the service will be through identified social work pathways within Holsworthy Barracks and Defence services. Families will have access to playgroups, therapeutic services, occasional childcare and youth services.
