The Defence Special Needs Support Group is a non-profit benevolent volunteer organisation established to assist ADF families with a family member with special needs.

Little Diggers Community Centre (LDCC) in Cairns is a Defence-sponsored community group that aims to help Defence families feel confident, resilient and connected in Cairns. LDCC welcomes Defence and non-Defence families from all over Cairns, making it a great place to meet other local families, make new friends and catch up with some old friends.
Our regular office hours are:
Playgroup at Brinsmead Community Centre - Loridan Drive, Brinsmead (Opposite IGA complex)
Tuesday - 9am to 10.30am.
Thursday - 11am to 12.30pm
Friday - 9am to 10.30am & 11am to 12.30pm
$3/family and a piece of fruit to share.
Bellies & Bubs - Thursday - 9am to 11am
$2/family. Tea and coffee provided.
We also run workshops, courses and additional activities.

My Space supports young people and their families who are affected by a disability or mental health disorder. My Space will run a pilot project for Defence families in Cairns who have dependants with additional needs.
What: My Space runs DF Enable, a new program designed to meet the specific requirements of eligible families caring for a child with special needs. Our caring support workers offer fun and supportive activities and respite services for Defence families.
When: Up to three hours per week during Defence force deployments How much: Free to eligible families.

VVCS provides free and confidential, nation-wide counselling and support for war and service-related mental health conditions, such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance and anger.
